Prefects

Calderside Academy recognises the need to give responsibility to our senior pupils.  We have considered various options where they can work throughout the school.  Each role has a profile and remit detailing posts and responsibilities.  All S6 leadership roles will be ascertained in August as part of the S6 induction programme.  One of these options is to act as prefects, notionally around 5 per registration class are selected.  The process is as follows:

  • at the S6 induction, pupils are informed of the role of a school prefect;
  • they are informed of the expectations pupils and staff have of prefects;
  • interested pupils will complete an application form; this allows the pupils to express why they should be chosen to be a prefect and what they could bring to the position
  • the application forms will be read through by DHT (S6) and pupil support staff to decide on suitability, (previous conduct, attendance and timekeeping are considered as part of this process);
  • successful pupils will be invited to a meeting to be allocated duties and be presented with their badges;
